Strategic Purchaser (m/w/d)

We are looking for a Strategic purchaser to manage and oversee the daily activities of the purchase department, and to manage supplier relationships of two Business Stream within the TOMRA Group.

Role and Responsibilities:

  • Implement sourcing strategies to ensure supplier quality, delivery, lead time, inventory, and cost control performance goals
  • Identify, evaluate, select, and integrate new suppliers and technologies • Negotiate pricing, vendor agreements, contracts, and other legal documents
  • Manage supplier relationships 
  • Drive achievement of improvements (cost, quality, on-time supply, product performance) through cross-functional alignment with internal stakeholders and suppliers
  • Develop roadmaps that align business requirements with industry and supplier capabilities
  • Work closely with Engineering to influence technical design decisions to meet business objectives
  • Foster usage of Procurement tools to improve the Procurement process and efficiency
  • Optimize supplier base and leverage spend to provide competitive advantage.
  • Oversee vendors and ensure adequate procedures are in place to minimize variances and defect material issues
  • Develop, review, implement processes/policies/standardizations that drive down overall costs.
  • Monitor the markets worldwide to create a basis for deciding the optimum sourcing strategy and cooperation with the best suppliers
  • Generate, document and implement savings, e.g. annual price productivity; plan, monitor and report on relevant KPI to contribute to the success of the business and make results transparent
  • Anticipate any challenges or disruptions in supply or quality and provide alternative solutions.
  • Produce regular, periodic and on demand reports


Candidate profile:

  • 5+ years’ experience in Procurement for a manufacturing business
  • Strong negotiation skills
  • Pragmatic workstyle
  • Structured and analytical
  • ERP systems experienced
  • Willingness to travel
  • University degree in Technical field respectively comparable skills and knowledge
  • Strong verbal and written English skills
  • Hands-on mentality
  • Positive “can do” attitude
  • Relationship builder
  • Ability to communicate and create collaboration across departments and subsidiaries in different countries
  • Experience from working in international companies
