TOMRA’s advanced sorting machines inspect millions of individual product pieces per hour, typically recovering five to ten percent through higher yields and better utilization.
That’s equivalent to approximately 25,000 trucks of potatoes per year!
Not only foreign material is a cause for customer complaints or expensive product recalls in dry petfood. Cross contamination occurs even more frequently and can, in specific cases, have a life-threatening impact on a pet’s health.
We are able to detect and remove all kinds of foreign materials such as plastics (hard and soft), rubber, metal, wood, stones and even glass. We can significantly reduce cross contamination, even if the cross contaminant has a similar shape, size or color as the good kibble.
We are able to detect and remove even the smallest defects at a high capacity and with an optimal yield. Inspection prior packaging is the final safety check for your product. Even defects with a similar color as the product can be detected based on their structure or biological characteristics.
Our in-line sorter can handle high capacity, requires little maintenance and can deal with dusty environments. Developed in-house, the unique BSI+ (Biometric Signature Identification) technology works by detecting the biometric characteristics of objects it scans and compares them to features in its stored database, to determine whether they should be accepted or rejected.
Due to the use of silos prior packaging, the risk of cross contamination is always present. The only way to deal with cross contamination is to employ a sensor-based sorting machine produced by TOMRA, the global pioneer in food safety assurance technology. TOMRA’s state of art hyperspectral optical technology can even detect cross contamination with the same shape, size or color as the good product when the composition of the kibble is different from the good product.
The Nimbus BSI is a real breakthrough for nuts and raisin processors.
